Woot! Woot! EXCHANGE OF FIRE is a finalist in the Romantic Suspense category for New Jersey Romance Writer’s Golden Leaf contest!!

When I attend the conference in October, I’ll now be an excited, nervous wreck!! Everyone please join me in rooting on Wraith (AKA Sandra) and Grady to win!!!!

Here’s the back cover blurb if you haven’t had a chance to read it yet:
Faking her death was easy, living with her past is harder, but nothing is more dangerous than falling in love…

Sandra Walsh was a deadly sniper for the Sweet Briar Group, a covert agency with assassins for hire, until her last mission went horribly wrong, accidentally killing an innocent girl. Knowing she’s a danger to her team, Sandra goes off the grid, becoming a Shade—an agent declared dead but secretly hiding among the living. She intends to honor her vow never to pull another trigger or have contact with the spy world again. Until she meets Casper Grady…

Grady is a former Marine with a troubled past and a debt to pay. His life mission has gone from protecting the nation to helping local children and their families. The moment he meets Sandra, he knows there’s more to her than meets the eye, but he can’t help but be drawn to the mysterious femme fatale. And when Sandra’s past suddenly catches up to her, Grady is determined to protect her at all costs, no matter how dark and dangerous her secrets are.

As the danger increases, so does their intense attraction. But when they’re forced to choose between each other and the people they’ve sworn to protect, their growing love might not be enough to keep them together—or alive…

EXCHANGE OF FIRE TURNS ONE YEAR OLD

EXCHANGE OF FIRE TURNS ONE YEAR OLD

9780698180949-ExchangeofFi_CV-635x1024Wow. I can’t believe it, but one year ago today, EXCHANGE OF FIRE had its big release!

Launching the first book of a new romantic suspense series had been thrilling and nerve-wracking. I didn’t sleep a wink the night before.

I wanted everyone to love Wraith and Grady just as much I did. I also had so much faith in Delta Squad and loved all the individual characters who make up this awesome, kick-ass team. And to this day, I still love every member of Delta Squad.  Probably even more so now than ever before. The more I get to spend time with them, writing their stories, they become cherished friends.

But back to release day. I didn’t move from my chair in front of my computer all day. I participated in blog tours, guested on individual blog sites and major sites like USA Today Happy Ever After, blasted the news to every social media site I belonged to. I must have hit “Refresh” on Amazon/Barnes and Noble and GoodReads so many times, the sites were probably groaning.description-of-Grady

Later that evening, my husband coaxed me away to go out and celebrate. Which we did with great food, a celebratory drink, and telling the waitress all about it. 😀

newsfeed-image-quote-Female-SnipersSince that day, Cappy’s had his release in SHADOW OF DOUBT, I’ve written a novella for Tedd, and Romeo’s story. I can’t wait to continue the saga of Delta Squad and share it with everyone.

Thank you all so muchToo-Late-To-Walk-Away for your support! For those who have read EXCHANGE OF FIRE, THANK YOU! For those who plan to read it, THANK YOU!

…and anyone who feels inspired to leave a review on the major e-retailer sites and tell their friends about it…I wholeheartedly encourage that plan! And say THANK YOU!  😀

Need some links? Sure thing. Everything you need is found on EXCHANGE OF FIRE’s page. Just click here.

Giant squishy hugs to you all!

Woo Boy, y’all!

I Smell Sheep blog allowed me to serve up a recipe I know you all will love!

A Casper Grady dish! Yep. You read that right. The hero of Exchange of Fire, that sexy ex-marine’s parts were broken down into ingredients and sautéed together to make a sizzling hot recipe.

Lady Jane’s Salon Wilkes-Barre/Scranton

Lady Jane’s Salon Wilkes-Barre/Scranton

2014-10-02 18.22.03

On 10/2/14, I had the pleasure of visiting West Pittston, PA to read an excerpt from EXCHANGE OF FIRE for Lady Jane’s Salon Wilkes-Barre/Scranton satellite salon.

2014-10-02 17.34.20What made this trip special (outside of the other wonderful authors who I read with and the readers I got to meet…more on them in a moment) was the location. Pittston, PA is located in the mountains between Scranton and Wilkes-Barre, along the Susquehanna River.

2014-10-02 17.12.27 2014-10-02 17.19.39

The scenery was absolutely breathtaking and the town was something out of a book. And with the fall leaves beginning to turn, the whole picturesque quality was made all the more beautiful.

You may remember a post back in May about an TV interview and segment for a satellite branch of Lady Jane’s Salon in Wilkes-Barre/Scranton (If not, click here, I was interviewed (with other authors) about writing romance for the local TV station). I mention this because another aspect of this salon’s uniqueness is the fact it’s held at a winery. Bartolai Winery. How cool is that?!?!?

2014-10-02 18.19.05
So, now I’ve been enchanted by the scenery and dazzled by the host location, how did it get better? Why being treated to a free glass of wine and the company surrounding me, of course! 😉

The other three authors reading last night were Judi Fennell (who writes in multiple romance genres), Roz Lee (erotic romance), and Kym Grosso (erotic paranormal romance). Everyone was phenomenal! I really enjoyed listening to the variety of excerpts.

2014-10-02 18.14.21
2014-10-02 19.07.30I read an excerpt from EXCHANGE OF FIRE. The scene I chose was filled with high-action–bullets were flying and Grady and Sandra were trying to escape death. (For those who have already read the story, I chose Chapter 39.) Not only did I get to read from the book, I got to sit on a “throne”! Nice!

The readers I met were so supportive and so enthusiastic, they helped refuel my creative juices. I’m going to buckle down and hammer away at Book 3 in the SBG series. I truly appreciated every person and thoroughly enjoyed the conversations.

If you ever have the chance, I’d definitely recommend visiting this region of Pennsylvania and joining the wonderful folks at Lady Jane’s Salon in Wilkes-Barre/Scranton. 😀

Sincerely,

P.A. DePaul

Lady Jane’s Salon Silver Spring Reading

Lady Jane’s Salon Silver Spring Reading

On Saturday evening, September 13th I got to share the podium with four other authors for a Lady Jane’s Salon reading event.2014-09-13 19.41.37

For those unfamiliar with Lady Jane’s Salon (LJS) I’ll try to explain. The Silver Spring location is a satellite branch of the original LJS in New York City. What LJS strives to do is foster a place where romance authors and readers can come together to hear selections from latest works in a comfortable environment. LJS is now nationwide and hosted all types of venues that allow discussions and the ability for readers to connect with the authors (and vice versa).

Last night’s reading was hosted at La Madeline in Bethesda, MD. A comfortable French bistro that welcomes LJS participants.

I read a selection from Exchange of Fire. To spice things up, I decided to read a high-action scene from Grady (hero)’s point of view. For a moment in the Salon, we have bullets flying while Grady and Sandra (heroine) try to escape a sniper’s deadly attempt on their lives. Even my heart was pounding (though that could have been the nerves from standing in front of a group and reading out loud <wink>).

I had a lot of fun and will be participating in another LJS event on October 2nd, this time in Wilkes-Barre/Scranton, PA at Bartolai Winery. Hope you can join me for the event! 🙂
